Short Dawg Tha Native (1) 5/18/2009
Opening Act For Tech N9ne

Comedian Chris Rock once said in a routine talking about boxing, “. . .It seems the lower you go on the social ladder, the better the fighter.  If there’s a Puerto Rican who is a good boxer, then there’s a Native American waiting to kick his ass.”  Like a warrior riding through a whirlwind, Short Dawg arrived on stage to a flurry of screams.  Giving shout outs to some local San Diego hoods, he called out, “And for my People representin’ the Rez!”  A good section of the House of Blues pumped their fists in the air and gave a bloodthirsty cry.  He wasted no time and went straight into rhyme.  Socially conscious with underlining political themes, Short Dawg’s rhymes speaks straight from a culturally repressed part of America that we as a nation refuse to acknowledge and delivers it with a smooth yet in your face flow.  A few of the songs he performed like “Road Warrior” and “Put It In the Air” are from his latest release Black Sheep.  And as if there were any doubts or confusion about his heritage, he gave a war dance letting everyone know he was there and he was coming out swinging.  Short Dawg Tha Native may not be a boxer, but he sure as hell kicked ass.
